ALMA warmly welcomes new members.  ALMA has members in every state and territory in Australia and also in New Zealand. Our members span a wide age range and include students, GPs, retirees and a wide range of medical specialists.

To be eligible for membership you need to:

1.     Self-identify as lesbian 

2.     Be/have been registered as a medical practitioner; or be an enrolled  medical student.

Membership entitles you to access the private pages of the website, join the almalink email group, receive copies of our newsletter ALMANAC, and pay reduced conference fees. Your membership will be supporting ALMA’s work including the Lesbian Health Research Grant and funding students to attend our conferences.

Our constitution states that new members must be nominated by two existing ALMA members and approved by 75% of the ALMA Committee. Our Membership Secretary will arrange this process and make it simple & easy for you even if you don’t know any ALMAs yet! She will contact you to discuss the membership process and welcome you to ALMA.

On joining ALMA, members nominate their chosen level of privacy:

LEVELS OF CONFIDENTIALITY OF ALMA MEMBERSHIP  

Level 1:
Details can be made available only to the ALMA committee and shall be used only so that ALMA can forward information.

Level 2:
Details can be made available to all members of ALMA but not to any non-members.

Level 3:
Details can be made available to anyone at the discretion of the committee.

Members nominating level 2 or 3 will be placed on a mailing list, which is available to ALMA members. Members nominating level 3 may be placed on referral lists and other generally public lists though ALMA usually seeks consent before doing so.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

The membership fees for one year are as follows:

For those members with personal circumstances that make payment of the standard fee difficult, ALMA will accept fees of any amount $10 and over at the member's own discretion

Donations are welcome and help to support:

·         -  The Lesbian Health Research Grant

·         -  Subsidisation of conference fees for students & doctors in need.
